Responsibilities:

• • Overall responsibility for network editorial strategy including story selection, coverage point-of-view, editorial planning

  • Establish and maintain network-wide standards for field journalists, assignment desk

  • Lead election coverage – including results and polling data, newsroom special technology

  • Oversee production of all major news, special events and breaking news

  • Assign and manage domestic and international correspondents

  • Implement overall news brand strategy in coordination with CEO and Chief Content officer

  • Identify, recruit, and develop reporting talent

  • Recommend and participate in technology selection to improve overall operational efficiency and competencies of news team

Accomplishments

• Directly contributed to unprecedented 3-fold increase in ratings through a combination of improved editorial narrative, rapid and accurate election coverage, excellent and accurate reporting, and rapid dissemination of breaking news

• Established process for calling election results which provided Newsmax with a noteworthy edge over competition

• Raised standards of reporting, writing, field production

• Made substantial and immediate enhancements to look / imaging of news and data graphics
